Xiaomi Announces Its Second Gen Smart Rearview Mirror
The second generation of its rearview mirrors and is available in the Chinese markets from April 3.
To all those who know the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, they know that Xiaomi has transgressed the tag of just a smartphone manufacturer. They now make speakers, Wi-Fi routers, power banks, TVs, Laptop, and the lot!
But only a few know that Xiaomi has also tried their hands at making electronic rear view mirrors. Their previous version was called the 70 minutes Smart Rearview mirror. Now, Xiaomi has announced the second generation of its rearview mirrors and is available in the Chinese markets from April 3.
The new Smart rearview camera comes as an improvement to the existing version with exciting features. Its packs a 6.86-inch touchscreen display boasting a resolution of 1280×480 pixels. The most notable features of this new device are:
- Forward Collision warning (FCS)
- Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)InterInter
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW) etc.
The new device comes with Mi Branding too as its predecessor lacked this design element. Design-wise, the new product is slimmer and a bit smaller than the first generation product. Xiaomi, however, improved the overall cooling of the device as Xiaomi has used aerospace grade aluminum as a heat sink.
Xiaomi uses IMX291 image sensors developed by Sony for this product. The f/1.8 aperture camera guarantees improved performance even in low l its conditions. You can connect your vehicle’s rearview camera directly to this device. The user also gets the option to record video using both the cameras. While not in use, it looks like any other reflective rear view mirror!
The camera lenses are made of glass and have a 9 layer protective coating on them. With 150-degree of view, the driver can be sure of not missing any blind spots.
But nothing is complete without a touch of AI as the Mi smart rearview camera comes with voice command. Now, if all these features don’t impress you, then you can connect the rear view cam to your Mi home app and control your smart home devices placed through this mirror. The Small Love speakers, from Xiaomi themselves, are added to the product so that you can have real-time feedback.
