Rumors Suggest Apple AR glasses Might Be Unveiled in 2020
While the company hasn't confirmed the development of AR glasses, enthusiasts are showcasing designs to predict how these glasses may look like.
With the announcement of ARKit in previous Apple WWDC, the rumor of company developing Apple AR glasses or augmented reality glasses heated up to a new level. And no wonder Apple doesn’t want to be sitting idle while tech giants like Alphabet and Microsoft already have many prototypes being developed left and right.
Still, Apple hasn’t shown any interest in building an AR headset publicly, yet.
“We predict that AR is the next-generation revolutionary UI; we, therefore, think that AR does not need any killer applications given it is a killer application already,” research note seen as in Business Insider.
The designs show an AR headset, which would use a micro-computer to overlay images onto the lens, and were created by Dutch designer Martin Hajek for iDropNews.
Apple already has implemented great AR capabilities in its smartphones and it certainly has not escaped the motherboard of the iPhone X, which houses A11 bionic chips specifically designed for AR applications.

It is hard, now, to discard this news and call Apple Glass a rumor when tons of leaks are seeping out. Apple is surely gearing up to be a big shot in the AR industry. Recently it posted some jobs with roles which might suggest it is building up its army of AR engineers who will develop finished products which might hit the shelves soon. The latest patents and material orders by Apple make it too easy to guess the hottest project at Apple HQ is a wearable AR glass.
Apple’s attempt at keeping the development of its first AR glass a secret is hard to comprehend. There may be many factors which they have considered but we are clueless about. But as we know Apple, they are keen on releasing finished products which are irresistible treats in the hands of customers.
On the other end of the spectrum, Apple is known to be a game changer from its iPods in the 90’s to iPhones in 2007. It has changed the face of technology and created a whole new sector in hi-tech. So we just have to keep our eyes peeled open for a while and wish that Apple Glass soon hit the market.
