The devices can run in rugged environments without fail and get things done as swiftly as possible. Recently, Panasonic made an announcement that stood true to the lineup to rugged devices – Smart Warranty Battery.
The Smart Battery Warranty is applicable for the whole lineup of Toughbook Series, which includes Notebooks, handheld devices, and tablets. With the new warranty system, Panasonic aims to reduce downtime significantly when battery replacements are in process.
In essence, it ties smart battery monitoring via software with fast battery replacement from the service depot.
To explain in detail, Panasonic provides 3-year warranty for its Toughbook lineup. During this period of 3 years, the warranty also includes analytics which monitors the battery for its performance and health.
Once the monitoring tool detects a dip in the battery health, it warns the user by notifying them with an email. Once the battery reaches a state where it needs replacement in the near future, the user will be notified by amber color email notification. When the health reaches a point where it needs immediate replacement, the user will be notified by a red color email notification. The user will also get a call from Panasonic requesting the user to pick a date for the replacement.
The customers who opt for the Smart Battery Warranty program will have the Panasonic’s Smart Service Lite Analytics software installed on their machine. The software is powered by the Elemez real-time analytics from B2M Solutions, and it does all the battery monitoring and keeps the user posted. Another benefit of joining the warranty program is that the users will be provided with a 60-day trial version of the complete Toughbook Smart Service performance analytics package. This is a more robust monitoring tool capable of analyzing every part of the laptop and creates reports bases its respective performance.
The whole system is backed by a cloud-based SaaS system that makes them even more powerful when it comes to monitoring the internals of the machine. It helps the device to work more efficiently and for extended periods of time without having any major breakdown.
In organizations where Panasonic devices are used predominantly, changing the battery of all devices will be a costly and time-consuming affair. The Panasonic smart battery warranty plans to change that by reducing the cost of the replacements and making the replacements as swift as possible by keeping fresh batteries ready.

For around half the cost of a typical rugged device battery, warranty holders have dedicated software running automatic battery monitoring as well as battery replacement when necessary during the three-year period.”
It will only cost the user €58 plus tax per device for the 3-year smart battery service.
