NASA and Samsung Wants You on The Moon With A 4D VR Experience
The users will be able to feel the sensation of weightlessness that astronauts feel while they are walking on the moon with this new 4D VR experience.
We have all dreamt of being an astronaut after seeing how awesome it is to be in space and walk on the moon. However, living that dream is accomplished by only a handful. However, NASA and Samsung have come up with the next best thing “A Moon for All Mankind” – A VR simulation that gives the user a near perfect experience of being on the moon.
This outer space VR experience named “A Moon for All Mankind” (AMFAM)” is set up by NASA and Samsung on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo program. It is held at the Samsung 837, and anyone can visit the showroom to have a breathtaking experience that is truly a treat to the senses.
We are familiar with VR giving the users a 3D experience, but NASA and Samsung are taking it to the next level with a 4D experience. It means that the users will be able to have a sense of realism when interacting with the surroundings.
“At the AMFAM experience at Samsung 837, consumers will experience a full space mission including a briefing and details about how astronauts move on the Moon. Then, they will step into a flight suit and harness, wearing a Gear VR headset, to experience the lunar mission in the gravity offload rig, feeling what it’s like to walk on the Moon.”
With “A Moon for All Mankind” (AMFAM),” the users will be able to feel the sensation of weightlessness that astronauts feel while they are walking on the moon. This experience is achieved by using special rigs that provide harness support to the users. The images are rendered using Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus. Samsung collaborated with NASA to make sure that the 3D renderings and the gravity offloading features are near perfect to a real astronaut’s experience on the moon.
“At Samsung, we are driven to push the boundaries of innovation and inspire consumers to do what they can’t,” said Zach Overton, Vice President of Consumer Experience & General Manager of Samsung 837 and Galaxy Studios. “We are proud to bring to consumers the combination of our powerful mobile VR headset and our innovative work with NASA to launch this lunar experience and bring the sensation of walking on the Moon to life.”
