HTC And Mozilla Collaborate to Introduce VR Web Browser To Vive Headsets
With this collaboration, all HTC Vive headsets will have Firefox Reality as their default web browsing app.
In recent news on the technological front, HTC has partnered with Mozilla to create a mutually beneficial collaboration. HTC has been focusing on the growth and enhancement of Vive for some time now. At the same time, this Taiwanese company has been striving to capture the VR technology and incorporate its possibilities into its designs and developments.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) today at Las Vegas, Nevada, HTC revealed its plans to partner with Mozilla in order to ensure that all Vive headsets have the Firefox Reality browser as their default browsing app. Although Mozilla assigned a VR web browser for Firefox Reality in April 2018, its partnership with HTC gives users an added incentive of buying the VR Vive headsets of the company. Also, thanks to its collaboration with HTC, Mozilla can now promote Firefox Reality on a viable platform. Therefore, this alliance is a win-win situation for both companies.
HTC also revealed its plan at the CES to team up with Amazon so that it could appropriately use the AWS cloud infrastructure or Amazon Sumerian of the company. Therefore, HTC is expected to delve into 3D-mapped spaces, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in the later part of 2019.
This collaboration is indeed one-of-a-kind as it will allow users to incorporate the possibilities of VR into their day-to-day life. This is because of the immersive web browsing experience of Firefox Reality in VR that will combine the best of both the worlds and serve as the perfect experience for consumers. In addition to that, since Firefox Reality will be the official and native VR browser of Vive, users can guarantee a private and safe experience throughout.
As shared by the Vice President of Partnerships and Content of HTC Vive, Michael Almeraris, “We’ve set out this year to bring everyday computing tasks into VR for the first time. Through the collaboration with Mozilla and Amazon Web Services, we’re closing the gap in XR computing, empowering Vive users to get more content in their headset, while enabling developers and businesses to create content for these consumers quickly.”
This collaboration definitely promises users an enhanced VR experience.
