Android Messages Will Soon Experience Augmented Reality
The Snapchat like AR features for the native Android messaging app seems quite promising.
Augmented Reality has made its mark in various sectors, and it is expanding its horizons even more now. When it comes to the entertainment sector, AR has made its mark on social media platforms, chats filters, and much more.
Now, with Google’s announcement of making the Android texting app quite like Snapchat endowed with AR features seem promising.
Some of the interesting features that Google plans to have are the ones with 3D animations that can track movements of head accurately. There would be some other simple animations too like confetti, balloons, etc.
Thanks to these features, Android Messages are likely to become more attractive and can be a good option amidst all other options for sending instant messages.
The current AR effects that are being tested are fairly simple in nature revealed by XDA Developers, but they are going to add more complex features in the future. One of the ideas behind making Android Messenger more attractive is to give a competition to iMessages which has been ahead in the game with similar feature since some time.
The best thing about these AR features that are being tested for Android Messenger would be readily available within the app. There would be no need to take these photos on another app and then put it in the messenger to add effects.
However, the timeline for this is still unclear at the moment. So, the users still don’t know as to when these features would be available for their use.
Nevertheless, having Snapchat-like features in Android Messenger sounds exciting and promising. Research and Development in AR technology are massive, and it is only obvious that Google will take steps in using AR to improve the user experience with Android Messenger.

This is likely to change the marketing scenario as well because companies are also collaborating heavily to use AR in order to advertise their products and services. So, this step by Google is going to have an impact on other sectors too.
Everything is a prediction right now. We will only know the actual prospects once these features are officially launched.
