Augmented reality has been proclaimed as the future of technology. It has changed the way we interact with the virtual world. Now, the barrier to AR just got smaller. Seek’s new augmented reality platform Seek Studio, allows people to create, publish and share AR content with their smartphones, without needing to learn complex codes.
The Seek Studio provides templates that can be modified to create augmented reality experiences. The company launched Seek Studio with six templates and new templates are to be added in the months to come with a gradual improvement in the complexity of experiences.
There’s more good news for Amazon Sumerian users who’ll be able to publish AR experiences created in Sumerian directly to Seek, which allows them to become accessible everywhere. “There are a lot of great AR experiences being created by developers today, but they can be a challenge to find,” said Eric Johnsen, Business Development Director, AR/VR, at Amazon Web Services. “ Seek allows for quick and easy preview and publishing of an Amazon Sumerian AR experience in an existing mobile app. Our creators will love this!”
Dubbed ‘the central platform for augmented reality’, Seek’s platform is not unlike Youtube in sharing content. The content published on Seek can be shared directly with Social media, text, email or even your mobile site. This content is said to be ‘future proof’ as Seek ensures that all published content gets updates to the protocols and display capabilities. This is important as the AR technology is changing constantly.
Jon Cheney, CEO, and founder of Seek said, “By creating a central platform for AR, similar to what YouTube has done for video, Seek aims to speed up the adoption of AR technology by lowering the barriers to entry. Seek Studio is a crucial component of this system, allowing anyone with a smart-phone to begin creating and sharing content.”
Seek Studio works on iOS and Android. Support for other platforms will be added in the future.
