It is no secret that activist and actor, George Takei is not a big fan of the president of the United States of America. However, he has now broadened his horizons to express his dislike of Donald Trump and has taken it a step further than merely interviews and tweets. According to a recent report, Takei has launched an all-new Augmented Reality (AR) app known as the House of Cats, in a transparent attempt to target Trump.
The House of Cats app can be easily downloaded on the App Store and Google Play Store for a meager $0.99. Meanwhile, they are also working on launching a version of premium content subscription. George Takei partnered with the development company BMAD that is based in Montreal.
How it works is pretty straightforward. It enables the users to make different animated animal characters interact with each other such as Trumpy Cat, Lil’ Rocket Pug, Vladdy Putin and Meowlania. The users can have a lot of fun during these interactions, lending their own voice to the animated characters by adding their voice recordings, take photos with these characters in real environments and superimpose these characters in different real-life situations and environments.
When Takei was asked where the concept of the House of Cats originated from, his simple and straightforward explanation was, “The Internet loves the combination of politics and cats.”
Takei also mentioned that it is becoming rather challenging nowadays to find the element of satire in the daily news channels broadcasting political news. The world knows about the recent meeting between Trump and Putin on which Takei commented, “No augmented reality could have created the true reality of what we saw this morning: Donald Trump standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Vladimir Putin … his denial of the attack on the core activity of our democratic system.”
It is clear that Takei’s take (pun intended) on the entire political scenario comprises of adding a healthy bit of humor in it for the message to be taken seriously by the world. You might consider it bonkers to pay 99 cents for a satirical cat app, but you’ll feel less so when you take into account that a portion of these profits will go to Refugees International.
Ending on Takei’s words on the app, “Making a mockery of this particular person is going to be a very effective tool. We’ll have fun while we also accomplish our mission to make this a better America.”
