Bose has been famous for coming up with marvelous innovations when it comes to audios and sound systems. Bose has developed everything from a tiny speaker that can fill the whole room with intense sounds to headphones that cancel any and all kinds of outside noise and much more. The company never fails to surprise its customers pleasantly.
Recently, after Bose announced its research and innovation on Augmented Reality that focuses on visual possibilities, its customers are very excited. Contrary to the visual AR platforms, the AR platform of Bose gives an added layer of things that you can hear. A prototype of this was released earlier this year, and Bose has named these new frames the first “audio augmented reality platform.” In these glasses, Bose has not just combined glasses and headphones together but has also added some smart features into it.
A fund of $50 million has been established for Bose AR developers. It already has a partnership with Yelp, the fitness company Strava and TripAdvisor. Santiago Carvajal, the business manager of Bose also shared that the big giants such as Warby Parker and Ray-Ban might also be made potential hardware partners.
In his words, “We are in conversations with a number of wearable hardware manufacturers in the eyewear space,” he says. The price is still undetermined, and will obviously vary depending on who’s making the glasses.”
Carvajal also shared about Bose’s interest in glasses because they are a lot more socially acceptable and comfortable than wearing earbuds or headphones. They also do not make a person seem unapproachable or busy. He goes on to say, “We’ve been wearing glasses for years, they’re accepted by everybody.”
The real use of these AR glasses will depend on what the developers make out of it. Additionally, the price of these glasses will also decide its popularity. However, it is promising to imagine a gadget that will offer Augmented Reality at its best in the form of a pair of glasses. Both Bose and its loyal customers are looking forward to this new introduction to the repertoire of this company.
