The super-hyped augmented reality startup of United Kingdom, Blippar that unfortunately fell from grace last December is all set to bounce back in the market again. The start-up that was founded by Ambarish Mitra, Omar Tayeb Steve Spencer & Jess Butcher will be relaunched under the same title.
The company became defunct after the sovereign wealth fund from Malaysia named Khazanah Nasional choked an emergency cash infusion into the start-up from Nick Candy who is a shareholder in Blippar. The intellectual property assets of Blippar were bought by the investment firm of the business tycoon Nicky Candy and with this fresh acquisition, the start-up is all set to start afresh.
The new company will be headed by the co-founder and CEO of Blippar, Mr. Ambarish Mitra. In an official statement from Candy Ventures on Wednesday, Mr. Mitra quoted that the company will reemploy “many of Blippar’s original key engineers”.
Mr. Mitra also quoted that “The new company’s product offerings will focus primarily on developing a [software as a service] augmented reality creation and publishing platform (Blippbuilder) which will make it easy for everybody to create augmented reality”.
Augmented and Virtual Reality is an innovative field which is on the growing exponentially and has proved its significance in all walks of life. Blippar was an amazingly creative and innovative start-up in the AR world.
Blippar has already made its name in the AR world as a creative team and has already worked in collaboration of some worldwide famous brands like Disney, Nestle, Kellogg’s, Pepsi, Madam Tussauds, and Cadburys.
Blippar was founded in 2011 in London and excels in the field of Augmented Reality. The startup has several branches all around the globe that includes countries like Singapore, Tokyo, New York, Amsterdam, Mountain View, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Bangalore, Istanbul, & Delhi. Blippar also has a mobile application with the same name that allows the user to look at the real world objects through their mobile screen in an enhanced form. Blippar was the first to envision and design an augmented reality digital advertising platform.
