Microsoft unveiled their latest iteration of HoloLens at the MWC 2019 held in Barcelona. HoloLens 2 comes with a whole array of upgrades such as double the viewing angle, more compact build and a universal fit design. There is also a new tracking system in place that can determine the relative position of each finger of the user.
And if you had paid close attention to the reveal video, it is clear the Microsoft aims HoloLens 2 at professionals. Now, Philips and Microsoft are partnering up to make that vision a reality. The tech giants are building an AR app that lets doctors view 3D hologram of important details of a patient before them.
The info displayed on the visor will be updated in real time based on the changes happen to the patient. The data can be then controlled either by voice, gestures or even eye tracking. The companies have chosen Philips’ own Azurion platform for the implementation of the technology.
By implementing such a solution in the healthcare industry, the doctors will have all the sufficient information that they need to know in one place. Since the holograms can interact to the human inputs, the days of requiring a hardcopy for patient details will be something of the past.

The ecosystem is said to use Philips Connect OS which will allow seamless integration of Microsoft’s hardware with the software that Philips has developed specifically for the health industry. The system is still in development and hopefully, more good news will follow after the official rollout.
